Warner Bros. Discovery has announced price increases for HBO Max plans for 2025. This is the third time in three years that the streaming service has increased its prices.
The platform launched in 2020, and had its first price increase in January 2023. HBO Max last raised its prices in June 2024, and now again in October 2025.
New 2025 HBO Max Pricing Breakdown (Monthly):
- Basic with ads: $10.99 (+$1)
- Standard: $18.49 (+$1.50)
- Premium: $22.99 (+$2)
These changes, announced on October 21, 2025, follow a similar price increase in June 2024 and are part of an industry-wide trend to offset costs. The increase reflects CEO David Zaslav’s view that the platform was “undervalued.”
The cheapest plan, HBO Max Basic with Ads, used to cost $9.99 per month. But now after an increase of $1 in its price, the monthly subscription is available for $10.99. The price of HBO Max Standard has increased by $1.50 and is now priced at $18.49, compared to its previous price of $16.99. Both the Basic and Standard plans allow viewers to stream videos on two devices simultaneously in 1080p Full HD resolution. The only difference between both options is that the Basic plan contains ads, while the Standard offers an ad-free experience and also lets you download up to 30 videos for offline viewing.
The streaming platform’s highest offering, HBO Max Premium, which lets you stream 4K video on up to 4 devices, supports Dolby Atmos, and allows 100 downloads, now costs $22.99 per month. Before this $2 price increase, it was available for $20.99.
HBO Max website Turns out the ad-supported HBO Max, Disney+, and Hulu bundle now costs $19.99. This is an increase of $3 from its previous price of $16.99.
according to DiversityThe new prices will be effective immediately, although existing customers will see the price change starting from their next billing cycle, on/or after November 20, 2025. Similarly, annual subscribers will see price changes 30 days before the end of their next renewal cycle.
Disney Plus and Hulu prices are also increased They now cost $12, increasing by $2 for ad-supported plans. The ad-free subscription prices increased by $3, and now costs $19. Netflix, Peacock, and Apple TV have all raised their prices this year.
HBO Max will start restricting password sharing this month.
